Life-saving skills will go a long way when emergencies occur. A woman is hailed a hero after saving the life of a drowning boy. It was during a vacation at a Florida resort last month when Mary Lou Dill saved a life performing CPR on a 6-year old boy.
Dill just arrived at a pool on the resort to meet her husband and friends when a commotion occurred. Initially, she though there was a fight but quickly realized the situation when a woman was screaming for help while holding a lifeless young boy.
According to Dill, nobody was working on the child. He was lying there along with the chaos. It was then that she decided to deliver the compressions.
During the initial episode of compressions, Dill’s police-officer husband spotted her. He understood what was going on and checked the vital signs. It was only during the 4th round of compressions when the boy responded.
They rolled the boy on his side and he started to come to with a bit of color. His mother was at his head and trying to wake him up. For Dill, it was overwhelming that the boy is now responding.
Cry of relief
The boy let out a big cry. It was that cry that gave Dill relief. The boy was transported to a healthcare facility but released the next day after fully recovering.
Dill received a CPR certification 8 months ago. According to Dill, it was the best thing that she has done.
