Woman ends up with gunshot wound after drive-by shooting

A woman was hit by a bullet in a possible drive-by shooting in west Edmonton. A single bullet moved through the vinyl siding of a west Edmonton house back in 2015. The bullet pierced through the drywall, crossed a meter of floor space, and ripped through the mattress and memory foam before hitting the back of Brenda Hill.

Dangers of a drive-by gunshot

The gun that fired the shot and the person involved was not identified. Due to the delay from the swelling, the surgeons extracted the bullet from Hill’s body where it stopped near her spine. The single mother spent weeks in recovery in a healthcare facility before returning to the home she shares with her mother, Gerrie Wilson, and her adult son, David Hill who is suffering from cerebral palsy.

At the time of the incident that resulted in a gunshot wound, the city police believed that the shot was fired by a gunman in a vehicle on 199 Street. A neighbor reported hearing a single shot.
