CPR saves the life of a child submerged in an ATV crash

A 3-year old boy is recovering after a crash in the water. The child was strapped into a seat atop an ATV carrying rack which was submerged in a slough. The child was dangling underwater.

According to the RCMP, the crash occurred in a rural region in the northwest area of Hudson Bay. There were 7 people traveling together on 3 ATVs. The ATVs used have the 4-wheeled structure which is called quads.

In one of the quads, it had a child car seat strapped to the rear rack secured in place with straps. A 3-year old was on the seat while his father was operating the quad. At one point, the quad with the car seat rolled and rested upside down, submerged in a slough. The child in the car seat ended up trapped underwater for a brief span of time before pulled out by others in the group.
