Victim of Salt Spring incident given CPR

A man who was found unresponsive at Salt Spring Island was given CPR. The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is called in to investigate a death.

A close look on the case

According to Salt Spring RCMP, the police were called to a fight on Richard Flack Road. The officers found a 36-year old male, unresponsive with CPR being delivered by 2 men where one of whom had no life-threatening injuries.

The Salt Spring RCMP continued with the life-saving procedure until the arrival of the paramedics. The unresponsive man was transported to the island’s hospital by ambulance. Sadly, he was declared dead shortly after arrival.

The Independent Investigations Office investigates after such cases to check if any actions or inaction by police are linked to the death of the man.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is also performing an investigation into the suspicious death. There are no charges laid in connection with this investigation.
