A man on Salt Spring Island passed away despite the timely delivery of CPR. The incident remains under investigation by the police. According to the RCMP, the officers responded to reports of a fight on Richard Flack Road.
Timely intervention
At the scene of the incident, they found 2 men performing CPR on an unresponsive man. The Salt Spring Island RCMP continued to perform CPR on the 36-year old man. He was transported to a healthcare facility but he was declared dead.
According to the police, the incident appears to be isolated and there are no charges laid. The Independent Investigations Office opened a probe into the death and investigating if the actions or inactions of the police are linked to the death of the man.
