Masks mandatory in Cornwall and other eastern Ontario areas

Wearing non-medical masks or cloth face coverings will be mandatory to access indoor services in places like Cornwall, Alexandria, Rockland, and Casselman. The new rules could come into effect as early as next week.

Masks, which should help prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be obligatory shortly for most people, although small children and those whose medical issues would be exempt.

There have been no new cases of coronavirus in the health region in the last week, and there are currently no institutional outbreaks.

Ontario’s medical officer of health decided against mandating masks across the province, leaving it instead to municipalities and regions to decide what to do locally.
