A man was found dead in a parking lot. The police identified the victim as Darrin Thomas Amond about in his 40’s. He was found in a northeast Safeway parking lot in medical distress. The police believed that it was a serious assault. He was immediately provided first aid.
Timely intervention
According to the police, they were driving in the 3500 block of 32nd Avenue N.E. at about 2 in the afternoon when an unidentified man stopped them. He was asking for help for a man in medical distress. They found the man in the south end of the Whitehorn Safeway parking lot. They stopped and provided first aid on Amond. He suffered severe injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital. His condition worsened and eventually declared dead.
The police believed that there were people in the area who witnessed the assault. The incident happened in the middle of the afternoon. They are hoping that some witnesses can provide them with information about the incident.
The news stated that Amond was previously arrested due to manslaughter. A Stranger named Marcus Tremaine Deveaux was beaten to death by Amond a couple of years back. Amond was sentenced to four years in prison. His attack on Deveaux was unprovoked. Deveaux was found in an Inglewood snowbank.
Deveaux was beaten to death by Amond and his companion named Ceasor because he was not able to provide them with a cigarette. Some bystanders found him unconscious in an Inglewood snowbank on 22nd Avenue and 17th Street S.E. After the incident, some bystanders provided first aid on Deveaux. Some called emergency numbers and were immediately brought to the hospital by paramedics. He was declared dead in the hospital.
According to the police, the attack on Deveaux was unprovoked, random and brutal. He does not even know his attackers. Amond was sentenced to eight years imprisonment for the unprovoked beating to death of a man he has never met before. His companion Ceasor pleaded guilty and receive a life sentence for the crime they have committed.
The mother of Deveaux was very thankful and grateful for the work of the police and the crown.
