As one of the essential tools during the COVID-19 crisis, disposable face masks have been necessities. By wearing a face mask as a preventive measure, it can protect you and others from the disease.
A disposable face mask is made of 95% filter, making it lightweight and comfortable to wear even for daily use. The masks have a metal piece on top to provide a customized fit along with ear loops. The masks are wrapped individually for hygiene purposes.
When wearing a face mask, it works by curbing down the spread of microorganisms and viruses. Since potentially infectious droplets are released into the air when a person talks, sneezes or coughs, wearing a face mask can lessen the spread to the environment. Additionally, using one can protect the nose and mouth of the wearer from splashes or spray of bodily fluids.
How to properly wear a disposable face mask
It is important to use a disposable face mask properly to ensure adequate protection. Let us take a look at the steps on how to safely use one.
- Wash your hands with water and soap or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- After opening the packaging, carefully inspect your mask for any signs of damage such as holes or tears.
- The colored part of the mask faces outwards or away from you while the white part of the mask touches your face. The top part of the mask is where you will find the metal strip.
- Position the top part of the face mask over the bridge of your nose. Mold the metal strip to the shape of your nose to ensure a good fit.
- Position the ear loops over each ear.
- Pull down the base of the face mask, adjusting it properly to cover your nose, mouth, and chin.
When wearing a disposable face mask, avoid touching it as much as possible. If there is a need to adjust it, do not forget to thoroughly clean your hands after.
Once it is time to remove the mask, hold the ear loops, and lift it away from your face. Do not touch the front part of the mask when removing it since it might be contaminated. Discard the face mask properly in a closed garbage bin and clean your hands after washing with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
