Good Samaritan saves the life of a pedestrian

A typical biking routine turned into an unexpected ordeal when a man had to rescue a victim of a road collision.

The man involved in the collison received first aid care from a “good samaritan”.  The first aid measures kept the victim alive until the arrival of the emergency team on the scene.

Sadly, the victim of the collision accident is still hospitalized in a healthcare facility in critical condition. If not for the quick response by Clayton Blackwood, it would be a fatal outcome for the victim.

Before the accident occurred, Blackwood was cycling nearby. He saw the victim attempting to cross the street. It was then that the driver of the van was also turning left when his vehicle hit the victim.

The victim was lying on the ground with serious injuries. Blackwood quickly rushed to help the victim. Although the ambulance is on the way, Blackwood knew that without timely action on the part of the bystanders, the victim would die.

Blackwood previously enrolled in a 2-week first aid course. All the life-saving skills and knowledge he learned from the training class rushed back into his mind. His initialy move was to provide support to the head of the victim and closely observed the breathing.
