The prompt delivery of life-saving measures can help save lives. The life-saving CPR was performed on a man and later followed by a shock from an AED. The incident took place in a museum. Mitchell Ehr was visiting the museum when he witnessed an ordeal. A man went into cardiac arrest and that was the time when he decided to take action.
While Ehr was about the leave the museum along with his family, he noticed a man on the floor, around 20 feet away.
Upon approaching the man on the floor, another person was already assisting by opening up his shirt. Ehr noticed that the man on the floor was turning purple in color and was having a hard to breathing. Ehr attempted to assess for a pulse and initiated CPR. He applied the pads of the AED and delivered one shock to the man on the floor.
After a shock was given followed by the second round of compressions which lasted for 4-5 minutes, the man started breathing on his own. He opened his eyes and his pulse was restored.
Ehr shared that he felt great after his effort in saving the man. He considers it as an emotional call he has been waiting for as a paramedic for 7 years.
Several family members thanked Ehr after the incident. Ehr will be given recognition with an award for his timely actions in saving a life.
