Victim given CPR in shooting incident identified

A man who was shot and received CPR in a residential area of north Surrey has been identified. The man was 21-year old, Verron Nand.

Shooting ordeal

The RCMP responded to a report of gunfire near 114 Avenue at 136A Street in the Bolivar Heights area around 11 PM. The officers found Nand who was declared dead at the scene, and a second man who was transported to a healthcare facility and now in stable condition.

The incident is believed to be a targeted shooting and the main priority of the police is to determine the motive. The shooting seemed to have occurred close to a playground and across the street from several houses. One neighbor who only wanted to be identified by his first name heard several shots and saw first responders delivering CPR on one of the victims.
