A man was pulled from the water at Beachclub in an unconscious state. He was shortly declared dead at the Ste-Eustache hospital.
The police are currently investigating the drowning of the 21-year old Montreal man whose lifeless body was pulled out from the water at a beach and outdoor club in Laurentians.
Watery ordeal
The investigators with the Deux-Montagnes police department were at the Beachclub in Pointe-Calumet to interview several witnesses. The root cause of the incident is still under investigation, but the man pulled out of the water was declared dead shortly after.
The man was swimming in an area of the small artificial lake used by the club which was off-limits to swimmers.
According to Christopher Harding, the media relations officer with the Deux-Montagnes police department, the man swam out to the area beyond the boundaries together with friends who later returned to shore and kept an eye on him from a distance. The water did not have any strong waves or currents.
His friends might have seen him go under the water a few times and return to the surface, but lost sight of him. It was then they rushed to find staff members to alert a lifeguard. After 20 minutes, he was dragged to shore.
The Beachclub staff and lifeguards were delivering CPR when the police arrived followed by an ambulance.
