Face masks are now required in shared spaces. By prioritizing the safety of the University of Saskatchewan community, school officials have made face masks mandatory in all indoor common or shared spaces to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Non-medical masks or cloth face-coverings must be worn by faculty, staff, students, and any visitors, contractors, or vendors while indoors at the Saskatoon, Regina, and Prince Albert campuses effective August 24 according to a notification sent to students and staff.
Indoor spaces include hallways, lobbies, libraries, classrooms, labs, study spaces, elevators, recreational facilities, and other designated shared spaces. Students who reside in residence halls must wear a face mask in all common areas.
The university also asked that face masks be worn outdoors where a minimum distance of two meters cannot be observed.
The only exception to the masking protocol is for children below two years of age, people with a medical exception, or those who cannot don or take off a face mask.
Transparent full-face shields are an option for individuals who are unable to wear a face mask. In cases where neither a face shield nor a face mask cannot be worn, working, or learning remotely might be necessary.
