Students who rallied for gun control should learn CPR according to Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum or find a way to prevent a school shooting.
According to the Republicans, children should do something such as taking CPR classes or trying to deal with situations such as involving a violent shooter.
Time to act
The 2012 and 2016 presidential candidate stated that students must work to stop bullying in their communities or respond to a shooter instead of requesting the lawmakers to approve legislation to protect them.
The comments given by Santorum prompted outrage on social media a day after thousands of teenagers and their supporters rallied across the U.S. to push for strict laws to fight gun violence.
The demonstrations were headed by students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High school in Parkland, Florida which involved the death of 17 people. According to Santorum, if the rallies are about more than politics, the country needs to have a wider discussion that does not revolve on gun laws that will not work.
