Recent rescue raises awareness on increasing defibrillators

After a dramatic revival on the weekend, more rinks and recreational facilities on P.E.I. are planning to buy automated external defibrillators.

Importance of defibrillators

Steve Stapleton assisted in reviving a friend who collapsed during a hockey game at the APM Centre in Cornwall. He used an AED when CPR was no longer working. According to Stapleton, one shock was given and he came back.

The Recreation PEI is urging more AEDs at recreational facilities across the province. Upon hearing the news of the incident, at least one rink, Gateway Arena in Borden-Carleton voted to buy an AED.
