It was an exciting hockey game but a fan required CPR. Hockey was the last thing most players were thinking about.
Game safety
The Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers were dealing with 2 separate delays that left several players shaken. Both teams were sent to their dressing rooms with a remaining 3:37 in the first period as the emergency team was dealing with a fan in the stands who require CPR.
The remaining time was played at the start of a second but another delay occurred once Vincent Trochek twisted his right leg in an awkward manner that required a stretcher.
Importance of first aid training
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) can save a life. Prompt delivery of life-saving techniques improves the chances of survival during emergencies.
