CPR was quickly performed on a man who collapsed at Cape Breton Fiddlers Run finish line. A man running in the Cape Breton Fiddlers Run half-marathon was transported to a healthcare facility by ambulance after he collapsed 10 feet away from the finish line.
Timely delivery of CPR
The runner appeared to stumble and fell to the ground. A doctor and other medical personnel on the site quickly ran to the man who was in his 40s or 50s. They removed the shirt of the man and hat and initiated CPR. Other people approached to help including a doctor and at least 3 people delivered CPR before the man was able to breathe on his own after 15 minutes.
The people still cheered as runners continue to cross the finish line on the Esplanade, some not fully aware of what was happening behind the circle of people surrounding the man who collapsed.
Around 9:48 AM, the Emergency Health Services paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the man to a healthcare facility by ambulance.
