Jail inmate found unresponsive in cell given CPR

An inmate who was found unresponsive in his cell was given CPR. The inmate who was hospitalized after being found unresponsive in his cell at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility has died.

According to the Justice Department, the 29-year was discovered around 9:30 PM. The staff quickly started CPR and called paramedics. The man was transported to the Dartmouth General Hospital where he was later declared dead.

The family members of the man were at the hospital with him. The Halifax Regional Police and the Justice Department are investigating as well as the medical examiner’s office.
