After months of self-isolation, people are eager to go outside and soak up the sun this weekend, but experts warn that overcrowding is an issue, especially at beaches.
If you are going to a beach that is crowded and people are not observing physical distancing, it is best to look for another spot or simply go home. In case the parking lot or the beach looks crowded and you think that you cannot maintain a distance of 6 feet from other people, it is best to turn around and go home.
Best practices for beachgoers
Before heading to the beach, expect the parking may be limited and washrooms may be closed as well as concession stands.
It is recommended to bring along face masks and hand sanitizer as well as practice physical distancing.
According to health experts, the risk of waterborne transmission of COVID-19 is low and that the main threat is getting in contact with swimmers who might be contagious. Beachgoers are advised to wear a mask, but not when they go swimming since a wet mask can be difficult to breathe through.
People must also stay six feet away from others in the water and set your towel six feet away from anyone not in your household and then you can safely remove your mask.
