Elderly receives CPR after a house fire

A victim of a house fire received CPR. A senior was declared dead after a house fire on Dundas Street. It has been confirmed by BC Coroners Service that it is investigating the death of a woman in her 70s.

The fire crews were called to the house just before 1 AM after reports of heavy fire. When they arrived, the house was already engulfed and there were reports of a person trapped inside. The firefighters rushed into the burning building.

According to the deputy chief with the Burnaby Fire Department, the crews went into rescue mode. The rescue was successful under heavy fire conditions. Crews were seen performing CPR on the woman near the house, but it appears she succumbed to her injuries. Another person made it out of the house without serious injuries but was taken to a hospital.
