Doctors call for mandatory masks at a fisherman’s wharf

In Fisherman’s Wharf in Steveston, people are required to wear a face mask if they want to buy from the boats.

According to the operations and security manager for Steveston Harbour Authority, it is close quarters down the actual ramp, and on the fingers, itself and physical distancing is a challenge in this area. If people do not want to wear a mask, they do not have to go down the dock.

The need to wear masks at an outdoor attraction is unusual, but a family doctor is in favor of the move. One of the doctors of Masks4Canada stated that since the numbers are low in B.C., it is best to keep those numbers down. Masks4Canada is a group of physicians and scientists pushing provincial governments to mandate masks. The group is advocating for mandatory masking at all indoor locations, on transit, and at crowded outdoor places like Fisherman’s Wharf.
