Two passersby resuscitated a man with CPR after struck by a truck in Pitt Meadows. Jeremy Scholing and Matt Burnett, both 23-years old heard the crash as they were driving home to Abbotsford along the Lougheed Highway.
They immediately pulled over and ran to the prone man who was not breathing. Burnett and Scholing attempted CPR on the man after another passerby called 911. They were both given instructions over the phone.
Burnett wanted to the man to breathe again. He wiped the blood off his face. The man started to cough and show signs of life after several minutes of delivering CPR. The paramedics soon arrived and transported the man to a healthcare facility.
Under investigation
Based on a release, Ridge Meadows RCMP stated that witnesses saw the man step into the eastbound lane of the highway near Harris Road to hail a taxi where he was hit by a 5-ton box truck.
The Port Coquitlam man, 22-years old was transported to a healthcare facility in critical condition. Both Burnett and Scholing were shaken by the incident but hoping for the best. The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and cooperating with the police.
