A 12-year old boy shot with a pellet gun while sledding in Cloverdale park. The Surrey RCMP is investigating after 2 youths allegedly shot a boy with pellets.
Shot by a pellet gun
The 12-year old boy was at the park when he was shot with a pellet gun. Based on the Surrey RCMP report, the boy sustained minor injuries to his face and neck that was given first aid care.
Officers were notified and responded to the park along with the Integrated Police Service Dog unit to track the suspects from where they were last seen. The police officers believe that 2 males who may be youths purposefully discharged their pellet guns at the 12-year old and fled the area.
The first suspect was described to be wearing a black jacket, black toque, and a camouflage face mask. The second suspect was wearing grey pants and a black hat. Both were allegedly carrying pellet rifles.
Both adults and youth should understand that not only is discharging an air rifle in a park violation of the City bylaws, assaulting another person with one of these firearms is also a crime. Many people do not realize that these types of rifles are not toys and might cause serious and life-altering injuries.
