The quick-thinking of strangers in rescuing and delivering CPR saved the life of a young man. The incident occurred in Lynn Canyon after the young man went out for a swim.
Watery ordeal
The rescue team responded to the waters near Twin Falls around 4 PM when they received a call about a possible drowning.
Upon the arrival of the fire crews along with the park rangers and paramedics just beneath the falls, the 24-year old was breathing and coherent.
A couple and family were credited for saving the life of the man. Both were enjoying Lynn Canyon Park when they noticed that something was not right. They rescued the man in the water and pulled him out.
When the family was able to pull him out to the edge of the river, he did not have a pulse and not breathing. The family performed CPR for up to two minutes before he coughed up water and was successfully revived.
Over a dozen first responders used a stretched and rigged a pulley system to raise the injured man up the trails and steep slope to a waiting ambulance where he was transported to a hospital in serious condition.
Importance of first aid training
