The Calgary police are investigating after a man was fatally shot in broad daylight on a quiet residential street in Arbour Lake. The neighbors reported several shots around 5:40 PM in the northwest community.
Shooting incident
According to Sue Washington, who was out on her deck with her husband, she thought it was firecrackers or something and later saw neighbors running out of their house.
Washington and her husband took a closer look from the safety of their car. The man was lying in the street, covered in blood and someone was performing CPR on him.
The police soon arrived after with guns drawn. The 600 block of Arbour Lake Drive at Arbour Lake Way N.W. was closed during the investigation. Several neighbors returning from work were not allowed to their homes until late in the evening. The body of the victim was left in the middle of the road for several hours.
According to duty inspector Ryan Ayliffe, it appears to be a targeted attack. He was not able to comment on whether the incident was related to drugs but stated that there is no reason to believe that there is a connection to other recent homicides.
