A Sydney man was given CPR after found unresponsive in his cell. The inmate, Zane Weatherbee was serving time for first-degree murder at Dorchester Penitentiary in New Brunswick.
Unforeseen death
At the time of this death, the 49-year old had been serving an indeterminate sentence since 1982.
Based on a release from Correctional Service Canada, the staff members of the facility quickly performed CPR, and emergency services were called but Weatherbee could not be resuscitated.
As with all cases that involve the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified. The correctional service will review the circumstances of the incident. The next of kin of the inmate has been informed of his death.
