A 43-year old New Brunswick man died after a single wasp sting. According to family, the man did not have any signs of an allergy.
Severe allergic reaction
Daniel Koch was looking under a table to find a wasp’s nest at his property in Maple Grove, N.B. when a wasp flew out and stung him on the face. Daniel collapsed within minutes.
The family keeps bees on the property thus EpiPens were available but the reaction was too rapid. Daniel died while on the way to a healthcare facility after his father, Terry Koch, used an EpiPen and performed CPR.
Based on the coroner’s report, Daniel died from a severe allergic reaction to a sting. This caused his air passages to close.
