The U.S. border officers saved the life of an infant who ceased to breathe at Pacific Highway crossing.
Prompt rescue
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers revived an infant who ceased to breathe while waiting to cross. In a news release, the officers responded to the pre-primary lanes on a request for help since an infant was not breathing.
The mother and her daughter were waiting in line to enter the U.S. While waiting, the mother noticed that her daughter was not breathing and started to turn blue. The CBP officers responded by delivering first aid measures and got in touch with 911. The CBP officers were successful in restoring breathing and she regained consciousness.
The North Whatcom EMTs arrived on the scene and helped in transferring the mother and daughter to a nearby healthcare facility in Canada.
According to port director Kenneth Williams in a release, the rapid and professional response by the CBP personnel helped in saving the life of the baby. The scenario simply shows the commitment of CBP to protect and serve communities and the travelling public.
