At Kelowna First Aid, we proudly offer professional respiratory mask fitting, a requirement for many workplaces and school admissions. This quick 15-minute appointment can be booked as a stand-alone service or combined with a Standard First Aid or CPR HCP course. Many participants require mask fit testing for health sciences and nursing programs at schools like BCIT, Okanagan College, and the University of British Columbia (UBC). We provide fit testing for full and half-face respiratory protection masks as well as N95 surgical masks.
How to Register for Mask Fitting
To book your mask fitting appointment, simply select a course from the bottom of this page and complete the registration.
What’s Included in the Mask Fitting?
During the qualitative fit test, participants will check the seal and fit of the respirator on their face. The fit testing includes:
- Respirator selection and sizing
- Sensitivity and fit tests
- Respirator limitations and proper usage
- User seal checks
- Storage and maintenance instructions
- Cartridge dating and replacement guidelines
Cost of Mask Fitting
- N95, half-face, or full-face mask fitting: $50.00
- If you bring your own mask: $30.00
We also offer 3M N95 masks for fit testing. If you require fit testing for a different type of mask, please let us know in advance.
Private Fit Testing for Businesses
Yes! We offer on-site private mask fit testing for businesses and groups of all sizes. To receive a custom quote, please email us at [email protected].
Important Preparation Instructions
- Do not eat, drink, chew gum, or smoke within 20 minutes before your fit test.
- Participants must be clean-shaven for an accurate and secure mask seal.
Certification and Recertification
- Certification is provided immediately upon successful completion of the fit test.
- Recertification is typically required annually — please confirm with your school or employer for their specific requirements.
Fit Testing Duration
The entire fit testing appointment takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Refunds, Transfers, and Additional Fees
- No refunds or transfers are accepted within 72 hours of your appointment.
- No refunds are provided for rescheduled appointments.
- If an additional fit test is required, a 50% fee will be applied for each additional test.
