Man arrested in stabbing incident in Delta

A suspect has been arrested following a stabbing incident that involves a woman and an off-duty police officer. The incident happened outside the Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Delta.

According to Police Chief Neil Dubord, Sgt. John Jasmines, who was off duty at that time, around 3 in the afternoon he was outside the North Delta Elementary School waiting to pick up his children when he saw a fight between a man and a woman.

Some bystanders in the area immediately provided first aid on Jasmins and the woman.

The fight between the man and the woman became intense and he decided to intervene. He left his car and tried to stop the man. In the process, the woman and Jasmins were both stabbed several times. An officer arrived in the area a few minutes later and arrested the suspect and taken into custody.

Some bystanders in the area immediately provided first aid on Jasmins and the woman. The police identified the woman as a 41-year-old living in Delta. Paramedics arrived in the area and continued providing first aid on them and they were immediately brought to the hospital for further treatment.

Jasmins condition becomes stable while the woman is still in serious condition but improving.

When fully recovered, Jasmins stated in the news that he was grateful for the staff of Immaculate Conception Elementary School and the parents who immediately provide help by calling emergency numbers and providing initial first aid to the woman who was injured. The children were properly taken cared during the incident.

Furthermore, Jasmins also thank our broader law enforcement family and the public for their support and help.

Classes were canceled that day. The police made sure that the children were with their families. According to the principal of the school, he gathered all the staff and provides them with advice from the police in preparation for their return for school the next day.

Delta police Victim Services will assist staff and provide comfort and support to children as they return to their classes.

The police arrested Manoj George, age 49. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and 2 counts of assault using a weapon. According to the police, the suspect is married to the injured woman but their relationship is dissolving. The suspect has no criminal record.
