A man who died after he fell into a creek was given CPR. The incident occurred on the North Shore mountains.
Hiking ordeal
According to North Vancouver RCMP spokesman Cpl. Richard De Jong, the man fell and hit his head during a hike. The North Shore Rescue utilized a long line to bring the hiker out of the Norvan Falls area of Lynn Headwaters Regional Park by helicopter. Despite the use of a CPR machine, the man was declared dead in a healthcare facility. The B.C. Coroners Service is still investigating.
While the rescuers were dealing with the dying man, another call came in from two lost hikers who required help near Crown Mountain. A search team utilizes a second helicopter to find the pair of 20-year-old men and rescued them as daylight was fading and temperatures were dropping. The two hikers were not appropriately dressed for a springtime hike according to the rescuers. They were wearing running shoes and light clothing even though there is still snow in the mountains.
Timely intervention with CPR
The rapid delivery of CPR during emergencies can save a life. This life-saving technique must be performed promptly to improve the chances of survival.
