Police officers attempted to save a man with naloxone and CPR did not wrong. This was discovered by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
Overdose concerns
The SIU checks all deaths involving police in the province. In such cases, the officers were called to a Brampton house where they found a 36-year old man who is need of medical attention.
According to SIU Director Tony Loparco in a statement announcing the termination of the probe, the only contact that the police had with the man involved performing CPR and administering the Narcan nasal spray. Although neither of these interventions was able to save the life of the man, they did not contribute to the death of the man.
