Grandmother and granddaughter in pool ordeal

CPR was performed on the grandmother in a backyard pool in Oakville. The police stated that the grandmother died and her 4-year old granddaughter is in a hospital after they were found face down in a backyard pool.

Watery ordeal

The Halton regional police stated that someone called in to report that the woman and girl were found unresponsive in the in-ground pool at about noon. The girl’s mother pulled her out of the pool and a neighbor pulled the grandmother out.

Upon the arrival of the officers, they initiated CPR on the 79-year old woman but she could not be revived.

The girl regained consciousness before the arrival of the police. She was airlifted to a children’s hospital in Hamilton where she was in critical condition early Wednesday evening.

According to the police, they do not believe the incident was suspicious.
