British Columbians worried about coronavirus impact on the tourism industry

As the coronavirus gets upgraded as a worldwide health emergency, many British Columbians are closely watching the latest developments – not because they are worried about the virus affecting them personally.

Based on the results from a new Insights West poll, most of the respondents voiced concern over how the virus will have a negative effect on the Canadian and global economy.

The COVID-19 virus can manifest symptoms that strikingly resemble the common cold or flu, including coughing, fever, and difficulty breathing.

Around 95% stated that they feel the virus will have a negative impact on the travel industry while some state that the outbreak will affect their future travel plans. When asked about the global economy, the majority of the respondents believe the coronavirus will have a negative effect on an international scale.

The outbreak that started in Wuhan, China has infected thousands with most cases found in mainland China.
