Kelowna First Aid offers standard / intermediate first aid and CPR training course in Kelowna, B.C.

Kelowna First Aid proudly offers the workplace approved standard first aid course in Kelowna. Standard first aid, also referred to as intermediate first aid, is one of the most comprehensive course that we have to offer. Individuals and students from a variety of backgrounds are required to be certified in standard / intermediate first aid. Participants will learn a variety of different first aid topics and will receive cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training. Our main training facility offers this course at least 3 times per week. Participants have the option of selecting from two different CPR level’s when registering for the course. Participants can select either CPR level “C” or CPR level “C” for health care providers which is also known as CPR “HCP” / Basic Life Support (BLS). Candidates must take this course with CPR and can not take a stand-alone first aid course. Standard First Aid Course Content:

Participants attending a standard / intermediate first aid course will learn a variety of different first aid topics and will receive CPR and AED training. All standard first aid courses include CPR training which is a compulsory component of the course. Participants registered in this course will learn:

  • CPR for adult, child and infant victims.
  • CPR complications and airway obstructions for adult, child and infant victims.
  • Application and usage of barrier devices during CPR (includes bag-valve masks for CPR “HCP” / BLS candidates).
  • When and how to use a automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • Circulatory emergencies such as heart attacks, deadly bleeding, angina, transient ischemic attacks and strokes.
  • Respiratory emergencies such as aspiration, hyperventilation, shock, asthma and anaphylaxis (also known as allergic reactions).
  • Sudden Medical emergencies such as diabetic emergencies (hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia) and seizures.
  • Poisons, burns and child birth.
  • Environmental emergencies such as hypothermia, frost bite, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and heat cramps.
  • Head and Neck Injuries (possible spinals)
  • Skeletal injuries such as broken bones and fractures

Participants will learn to recognize and manage these emergencies and more when attending a standard / intermediate first aid course.

Standard First Aid and CPR Certification Course in Kelowna

Candidates that complete the course will immediately receive a workplace approved standard/ intermediate first aid, CPR and AED certificate. The certificate will state training and certification in the use of AED’s and the requested level of CPR. This certificate meets Health Canada and workplace standards for first aid and CPR training in Kelowna. Participants will receive a wallet size certificate but may opt for a larger “wall-mount” certificate for a small additional fee (inform the instructor about your request when receiving your award).

Length of Standard First Aid and CPR Course

The length of a standard first aid and CPR course is approximately 16 hours. Course length can vary depending on class skill, experience and knowledge level. Minimum class time for this program is 14 hours.

Available level’s of CPR with Standard First Aid:

Participants have the option of selecting either CPR level “C” or CPR level “C” for health care providers (CPR “HCP”) to partner with the standard first aid course. Candidates can make this selection on the registration page (the page after you make the course date and time selection below).

Cost of Standard First Aid and CPR:

The cost of the course is 144.99. Course cost covers taxes, manual and workplace approved certification fees. We have no hidden costs or fees.

Private Standard First Courses:

Refunds are not accepted within 72 hours of the original course. Transfers will be charged $25.00 when requested within 72 hours of the original course. Prior to that time candidates can receive a full refund or transfers to another date and time free of charge. There are no refunds for rescheduled events.
