A 2-year old Mission girl died after she was found unresponsive in a backyard pool despite CPR. The toddler was missing from daycare on Hawthorne Ave. The child was later discovered in the underground pool at a neighboring property, under a solar blanket.
Watery ordeal
According to RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve Crawford, the police received a 911 call from the daycare to report a missing toddler. The child was last seen around 10 minutes before the call was made. The police responded right away and started to check the daycare and neighboring properties.
The child was in the underground swimming pool. The officers quickly jumped in and brought her out and started CPR. A portable defibrillator was also used at the scene. The BC Ambulance Services and an air ambulance was brought in but not used.
The child was transported to Mission Memorial Hospital where she was declared dead. Victim services are providing support to the family and those concerned.
Prompt delivery of CPR
